"Get Beer, Give Water"

Together we raised nearly $10,000 to repair two broken wells at Akworo primary school and Awere refugee camp. Work was completed in mid-September, providing clean water to 1,240 people in Uganda.

See more pictures of the event by our friends Barry Williams and Alyssa Sperber.

Unfortunately, we were not able to raise enough money to build the rainwater catchment system at a primary school for 450 boys and girls, a protected spring at Orum and Amonmaka villages or a rainwater catchment system for a maternity health clinic. Over the next few months, we hope to apply for grants and donations as we strive to reach our goal of clean water for 10,000 people in the next 4 years.

What Did We Do at Sweetwater on July 12th?
  • Listened to music by the Burundi Refugee Drummers Group "Ababa"
  • Experienced an unbelievable photography show by award-winning photographer Jake Herrle
  • Drank delicious SweetWater Beer
  • Enjoyed homemade food and crafts for sale by the Atlanta Refugee Women's Network
  • Won amazing items at the silent auction including Larry King's voice on your home answering machine and a CD signed by Motley Crue!

Friends, thanks for coming out to support ClearWater Initiative World Water Day launch at Carroll Street Cafe in Atlanta on March 24th, 2008. We had a strong showing on a chilly night, and raised enough money to build two new protected springs in northern Uganda, providing clean water to nearly 1,100 people!
